98.5 47re vs 96 47re

Will a 47re from a 98.5, 24v, 2500, 4x4 plug & play in my 96, 3500, 4x4, or is there something different mechanical or electrical?

Any help appreciated.

Pretty sure it will go in without any changes, somewhere around 2000 they changed the resistance of the trans temp sensor, but somewhere on here I read of the workaround for even that.

That sounds pretty good. I am hoping to find out a little more before Saturday, that's when I was supposed to meet a fellow who's selling one for ~ $750. I has ~20k, shift kit, Billit converter, but I need to know for sure before I put in an hrs drive one way also. Thanks

Did you ever install the 24 valve RE in your 12valve?

No I did not. Still run'n my stock trans. Interesting thing is it's been so many yrs now since that deal I can't even remember who or where that was! =/
....and forgot all about this thread too. Lol.

I used to own an M37, sold it about 14 yrs ago tho to aid in a restoration of another ride I started at the time.

I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question but I need to replace the 48re in my 06 2500 cummins 4x4 and I can't decide on whether to just rebuild it or order a remanufactured transmission. Just read this, https://transmissioninfo.wixsite.com...ssioninfo/48re, do ya'll think that information is accurate?

If you have a good trans shop at hand that has experience with these transmissions you can have it rebuilt there, even including performance parts.

Just be honest with them about the power you will throw at it, and the way you will use your truck.
You will find more info in the 3rd gen section.
