98 12v ECM
All the symptoms are there showing I have a bad ECM on my '98 12v auto. Where is the cheapest place to get a new one? I have also read that instead of replacing it I can put an external controller on it? Is there a part number for the external controller and how difficult is it to install?

Been calling all over the country a searching like crazy. Does anyone know where I can get a used PCM? When I searched all the posts on this website for where to get one they all come up with comments saying it can't be the PCM? I definitely need a PCM and need it quickly.

Beware, most all people who replace their PCMs end up with the same problems and two perfectly good PCMs.
Dealer especially likes to blame the PCM when it's fine.
The stock PCM is a very stout device with internal circuit breakers to protect it. That's why they're hard to find, very few are sent in for cores.
Problem most always is a wiring or connector problem.

update
Symptoms: None of the gauges worked and charging system did not work. Couldn't do any testing for errors.
I ended up ordering a new computer from autoecm.com.
It came overnight mail and it actually made it overnight which is not always the case when shipping to AK.
Got it plugged in and everything in the truck is working great.
All that is left is fix the loose steering!
