97 12v idle and performance issues
A couple days ago my 97 12valve lost its idle speed causing it to barely idle. It will stall all too often. It is sluggish. With the engine off, pushing the accelerator down I notice it binds about 1/4 of the way down, then back to normal the rest of the travel. Similar with engine running.
I will be changing the fuel filters today to see if that helps. Any other suggestions?
Thanks...

first thing I would check is the throttle linkage. They wear out and break. Sometimes the threads will slip and extend the length of the linkage, etc. Easy to change. I have had several break on me. I actually carry a spare. You can take it off and thread it back together and see if that fixes your low idle, etc. Once you have it set where you like it you can weld the threaded section so it will not slip. This will get you by. Maybe then you get a new one from Dodge and keep the welded as a spare. I have also made a bailing wire linkage to get home. Worked good for 400 miles. I am really surprised no one has made a stronger aftermarket linkage rod
