The only special tool is the disc alignment tool that should come with the clutch. Other then that, the only bad part is the size and weight of everything. The crossmember is a pressed fit......which means you ll probably need to persuade it in and out even with no bolts holding it in. I suggest having one or two good sledge hammers to move it around. Not hard, but it could be without a decent hammer.

I did mine, withmy transfer case attached, it took two jacks. Weather you do it on the ground or on a lift, you need a good jack for the trans, and you need to strap/tie it on well. You dont want a few hundred pounds falling on you. I also supported my engine at the pan.

I spray everything with a lubricate before you get started too....a couple times, for 1 to 3 days.

Once you remove the tansmission, its pretty clear what you need to do to replace the clutch. Its not complex at all. Just make sure that the alignment tool can move in and out easily once the pressure plate is tight. You cant just sit it in the pilot bearing and expect it to be right...it may take a bit of adjustment

You might want to drop the flywheel and have it resurfaced then drive in a new pilot bearing. While it's off it takes about 30 minutes to put in a new rear main crank seal, don't need a leaky seal trashing a new clutch. A new release bearing and pivot ball are almost always required and I lube all the moving parts in there with disk brake ultra quiet synthetic grease; learned this from the quad 4X4 people. With a good tranny jack one person can do it in 4-5 hours of work; usually get a one day turn on the flywheel resurfacing.

definetly pull the flywheel and have it resurfaced. also, replace the rear main seal and pilot bearing while it's off. when you put everything back together, wipe the flywheel and pressure plate clean with mineral spirits. don't put greasy hands on any friction surface. the tranny input splines are very course, if it doesn't want to stab, back it off and turn it some. i pulled my tcase seperate.
