94 4 wheel drive engagment
When engaging the 4 HI on a 4 x 4 5 speed do you 5 speed guys stick the clutch in? Or just ease the transfer case in while in gear??? Sometimes mine engages smooth, other times a little rough. I always put the clutch in.... Maybe clutch in is not correct????

clunk??
I have noticed that last few times I take it out of 4 wheel high it makes a cluck about 1 mile after the 4wd light goes out. Sound like one of the hubs is still locked for few minutes???? Any thoughts.....??? I just replace my 4 wheel drive axle. New transer case oil. And new SB clutch.....

You don't need to use the clutch. The t-case is always spinning because its attached to the rear axle by the driveshaft, so using the clutch does nothing. Just let off the throttle so you are coasting (not under power, or compression braking...just coasting) and pull it in. Also only engage while moving if you are going straight, not in a corner if you can help it, and don't ever engage 4x4 if the rear tires are spinning on a slippery road. Thats another reason to let off the throttle.
The clunk is the front axle disconnect disengaging. You don't have hubs, only the 1 disconnect. If there is enough friction there, it may take a while to unlock. It shouldn't be much of a clunk, just a bit of a click.

Truck Jumps
I have a 96 with auto trans. I know the manual says you can shift in and out of 4 wheel high at speeds up to 50 mph. If I do that the front axle does not imeadetly disengage and when it does it makes the whole truck jump. To solve this problem I shift out of 4 wheel I drive in reverse a few feet like the old auto locking hubs. Just thought I'd put in my two cents.
