53 block & oil analysis ??
My question(s) of the day are:
What is a 53 block, what years did they come in, why are they bad and what do you replace it with?
Regarding oil analysis, where does one go or send a sample and what do you send it in?
Thanks,
Don

The 53 block is only in '98 and newer trucks, no worry for you.
Go to any Cummins, Cat, John Deere, etc dealer and ask about oil analysis.
They will provide you with a sample bottle with instructions.

A 53-block is a Brazilian made engine block that suffered a manufacturing defect which caused some of them to crack on the right side water jacket and leak coolant. 53-blocks were used in some 99-01 Dodge trucks, mostly 24-valvers.
