53 block?
So do you guys think there is a chance that my 97 ram 3500 12v has the 53 block? I don't have the truck at my house at the moment. I do not know what the build date was (like said trucks not at the house) but it was before june of 97.... my dad bought it like week after I was born. Truck has 200k+ on it never had any types of leaks. I was just wondering if you guys think it might have that block, I know it was mostly 24 valves but is there a chance it got it? thanks for the help

There is a chance that you have one. The question is does it matter. And at this point, it really isn't much of an issue. Run it until it breaks. Chances are, you'll be running for a long time.

my CTD friends say the 12v 53's don't really have a issue unless your making HUGE power and boost. Stock they almost always exceed a million miles when taken care of

that's good to here because I don't plan on making huge power more like under 400hp, so try being around my dads 08 6.7 ram. That will be some time tell I do that because I need to upgrade the tranny before hand.

Power output doesn't seem to be the issue. Its heat cycles on the core-shifted blocks. Lots of stock trucks that split the blocks. And the blocks are identical between the 12v and 24v.
