50 Mph?
50 Mph?
When I am going 50 MPH with my 95 5-speed with 3:55s I can either run in 4th at about 1800 RPMs or 5th at about 1400. Which RPMs are better for the truck to run at? It will pull it fine in either gear. Also with my mods my clutch is starting to slip mostly in 5th, Are there any other good clutchs out there that are cheaper, or should I break the bank on a South Bend?
I would run 4th gear given your setup. 5th might be fine with no wind and perfectly flat road but you will be lugging for pulling any form of a hill and you probably don't want to be constantly shifting. There is also a school of thought that lugging 5th leads to 5th gear failure due to the hard pulses from the engine.
4th it is
Sounds like 4th is the way to go. Thanks for the input, I was always curious about that. Does anybody know of a clutch that is decent, but not as expensive as South Bend.
