Thanks casey_sohc the pics do clarify things. It was warmer today and I was trying the 4x4 a few times to see and noticed that 4x4 Low engages immediately with the light as well but 4x4 High still not consistant or quick to engage at all. I was thinking possibly the linkage needs to be adjusted and will take a closer look today at it.

My 4wd isn't fast to engage either if I'm accelerating, have to let up on the throttle for a second then it engages.

Update:
Thanks to casey_sohc as I took a look today at the Vent line and it was also Capped off. I pop'd it off and the truck goes into 4x4 within 2 secs or so now

I think/hope I can get around now in the upcoming snow. Big Thanks again for this forum and the ppl that are here to help out.

thats great to hear!mine is a made in mexico truck.the serial # starts in 3,if yours is also maybe the plant there forgot to remove a bunch of them.(the ser.# begins in 1 for u.s.built and 2 for canadian built 3 mexico built)it helps in ordering parts.

That's not a cap, it's a filter to keep the vacuum from sucking crap into your vacuum system and engine.
It could be plugged up, I would definitely clean it and put it back on.

in the schematic it showed a filter like the hydraulic system ones so i assumed it was to look like a small filter,mine was a little rubber vacuum plug that i couldn't blow through so i put a small dirtbike fuel filter on the tube,it never occured to me that it was a farty little filter...thanks i'll hunt for it in my toolbox and check it out closer.cheers!
