47RH Transmission Pan Bolts

Has anyone had the problem of transmission pan bolts loosening? Mine are backing out slightly causing fluid to seep out around the gasket. Every 100-200 miles I tighten them up and they are about 1/8 to 1/4 turn loose. Would using blue Loctite on these cause a problem?

Thanks in advance
Steve

Steve,

The Locktite will probably works if you used a degreaser on the bolt and bolt hole to remove everything. Take a look at your pan and see it the bolts have been tightened too much and deformed them. If they are pulled in you may need to remove the pan and straighten them out.

Careful not to strip them out though.

I got frustrated with mine and stripped the threads out of 3 holes, luckily the holes are deeper then the bolt so I found some longer bolts that would work.

I'd use locktite.

Thanks guys for all the help! I'm glad I'm not the only one with the problem. I cleaned it off real well and drove for about 150 miles, just a light film around the rim on the back side. Hopefully loctite will get it done

Take care!
Steve
