Greetings, I have a real quick qestion. I was driving home from work the other night and stopped at a stop light. The truck decided that for the rest of the trip home when we came to a complete stop we were taking off in second unless I manually shifted to first with the selector. As I manually shifted it shifted fine thru the gears. Fast foward to next day, started truck it startes in first at a complete stop as it's supposed to do. I checked all linkage all in good conections underneath ect. Could it be the gov soleniod?? Or a transducer? Do they start intermitantly and then go out? Just wanted to get it fixed while I had some extra time. Many thanks, Brian

 

I'm not going to be any help with the actual cause , but the second gear starts are part of the limp home mode in the trans. mine did it when I changed the valve body with a dtt unit (higher pressure)

 

It could be a lot of things, but the governor sensor could have hicupped or the gov. solenoid might have stuck.



DTT should have given you something so the computer did not see the high pressure. You can use a Zenner diode or a voltage limiter.

 

I called DTT and Bill talked me through installing a resistor in one of the pcm wires to correct the issue. classy guy
