47 re auto tranny coversion.

I am doing a cummins swap and have a 47 re auto tranny and need to know what all is involved to make it shift properly and the converter to lock up. has any one done this? any and all help would be great. its a 2x4 also. thanks Greg

your swapping a Cummins into what year of Dodge 2wd? Why not go with a 5 speed?

its going in a 1960 cadillac, and a 5 spd would be ok just cant find any. I found a 47re for 200.00 in a running driving truck. just not sure of the wiring to make it work.

Don't know if they ever released the standanlone computer for them, but yes, you will need a computer. 96 started the RE with governor pressure control.

Either find a 94-95 RH or a 5 speed. Actually, you probably wouldn't lose all that much by going with a 91.5-93 618 OD trans, and they are pretty cheap, all you would miss is TC lockup. You would have to use gen 1 adapter plate and starter, but that stuff is cheap as well.
