1998 Chevy 12 Valve Cummins Conversion???
I have a good friend that has a sweet 14" lifted 1998 Chevy with a 12 valve Cummins in it. The problem we're having with it is there's no intercooler. Does anyone know of a intercooler that will fit in it??? Did the GM diesels back then come with an intercooler. We need to get those EGT's lower!!! Thanks guys for any help on this one as I'm not a Chev man...
Talk to Martin at AFI. I think he did a turbocharged AWD fullsize chev truck. I'd imagine that would be aftercooled. Sometimes you can get a newer part to fit in an older vehicle. See if you can get any dmax coolers.
1998...Back then?? Hehe...cracked me up.
Those things have alot of room in the front.....pick one. I used a 2nd gen. dodge IC on my 87 which has much less room in the front that a 98 does. I did have to cut a couple rows off and turn it upside down when mounting, but it fits quite nicely now. There are a ton of them selling on ebay that are universals. Just go as large as you can. As a rule, the larger the better on an intercooler, but so long as it is large enough not to cause a dramatic pressure drop anything will be better than nothing.
