1998 12v swap to 2002
My 1998 12v body is rusting bad and I have a chance at getting a 2002 dodge diesel with a 6 speed transmission and four wheel drive. Mine is a 5 speed 4 wheel drive. I can get the 2002 truck for around $4000. Would it take a lot of work to swap my engine to the 2002 truck?

The guy ran a dirty fuel thru truck and diesel shop said he needs a new motor. Told him he fried a piston and fuel system shot. Seems hard to believe he needs a new motor. Only has 120,000 miles on it and is in very good shape

I would grab it, does it still run at all?
Like I said, your 12V only requires a starter to run, everything else can be done manually, worst case scenario is your check engine light will be on. I would bet someone has figured out how to get the proper signals to the PCM to make it happy.
