1997 torq converter drain plug?

I went to change my T-fluid in my 1997 dodge 3500 yesterday and couldn't find a drain plug for the converter (stock trannie & converter) thru the lower or passenger side inspection ports.

What gives, am I forced to take it in & have it sucked out?

john

You can drop the pan and loosen the TC bolts or remove one of the hoses at the cooler, start the engine and pump it into a bucket.

Don't loosen the TC bolts, loosen the valve body bolts and let everything drain, then torque everything back up. That will get as much fluid out that will come out.

I do that quite often- take a cooler line off, run a hose into a bucket, start the engine in neutral, pour fresh oil in the fill tube while the old stuff gets pumped out. Works great.
