LED's are a great idea. I'm guessing his GH's didn't cycle because it was an erratic sub-idle condition and the alternator didn't know what to do, did nothing, or the relays were stuck open..............just a guess.

 

Oh wow your all correct, there is zero way it could be cycleing the grid's and be putting out 16 Volts at 600RPM- they cycled for sure for the 10 seconds prior to start but thats it. when it fired for a second then died I was going to do a second glow on them by bring the ignition back to off then on again, but at the last second I figuired id just hit the start again to see what would happen and im willing to bet that the extended wait between starts and the start-die-start-die did infact kick the grid's off for some reason. that combined with the electrical draw that effects the batt's when they sit for a week sure didnt help things.
I will keep a close eye next time its that cold!

 

Gee, sounds just like my 96 on startup. It isn't near as cold here, but when she first starts she chugs a bit, until the fuel pressure comes up, then she runs smooth.
