12v timing
12v timing
I checked the timing on my 12 valve tonight. CPL 2023 I came up with 5.7-5.9 mm in lift. Seems super high to me, I quickly checked it against the marks I layed out on the balancer and oil pan that I use for valve sets. I'm going to re-check it using the pin. Looks like some one adjusted the timing before I bought the truck, they may have set it to 160 hp specs. The truck was stock I have just added a 4" full exhuast, high flow air intake, #10 plate, PDR HX 35 14 cm waste gated housing, 3k kit ,and afc spring kit with the light spring installed. I want to adjust the timing for this set up I have know what do you guys recommend for timing, I do pull heavy loads so I don't want to go to high.

What's your "heavy load?" How heavy?
That timing will give good fuel economy, and I towed up to 35K gross with mine at 17* If you tow that heavy, I'd say back it down to a sure 16-16.5 and call it good! At least then you know where it is!

I checked the PDR timing chart and it doesn't even go as high as my measurements. PDR recommends 5.5 mm lift (15.5 degrees) for the timing, So that's where I'm going to set it.
