12v rebuild
12v rebuild
so i gotta rebuild mine.where can i get a good rebuild kit for it?wat all should i do different cuz after the rebuild im gonna make this motor have some serious horsepower!anyone got any suggestions one anything that would be great. thanks
How much horsepower are you looking to get? Youre taking some serious money for big power. 500hp or so you can do with o-rings and studs, stock everything else.
You could go nuts and reinforce the crank, put in aftermarket rods and pistons.. all kinds of options.
You might want to invest in dry lube coatings on critical parts like piston skirts and crank bearings. Thermal barrier coatings on the cylinder and piston dome surfaces. The barrier coating might be nice if you forget to watch that pyrometer someday.
The only replacement for displacement is cubic dollars ;p

Couldnt have said it any better! this man knows what he is talking about!
wats like serious money?it gettign rebuilt for free i only have to pay for the parts.i dont really know im looking for like 5-6 or somewhere around there maybe more maybe less not sure.i was just gonna find a good rebuild kit to start with but the i was gonna put like the 191 DV's,my fuel plate, tune pump,435 injectors,4000 rpm gsk, lookin at twin turbos also and some more stuff along the way watever i need. basically im lookin for a good rebuild kit to start with that can hold anywhere from 500 hp on up? its goin in a different truck and will never pull anything except for maybe a car trailer if i decide to build it to pull something. any help would be great. thanks
From what you have said so far , you not in the serious neighborhood hood yet .
Your typing makes hard to read & know what your need , 5-6 , does that mean hundred or thousand ?
So a standard rebuild , with a few extras , also like mentioned above , fire rings , 60 lbs valve springs ect. again not a kit , just figure a budget and look for a supplier , you should give your location , you may find someone in your area , from you question here .
Inspect what you have , buy what you need , a kit may spend money that you do not need to spend .

what Id do is go with good quality pistons but keep the standard bowl unless your builder has a plan with the marines and injectors. O-ring the head, maybe even the block while its all out. Definitely dress both surfaces while theyre easy to get to. Go with a very fine finish on it if possible.
Id go with 14mm studs if its all out and easy to do. Otherwise 12mm are fine. More clamping force possible with 14mm.
If the motor is out a great idea is a new aftermarket cam. It will help the engine breathe much better.
Set some money aside for the following (since I dunno whats on the truck):
Good clutch or DTT/goerend auto trans.
gauges especially boost and pyro
60lb valve springs if you use an engine brake or go over 3k on the governor.
a built bump like an industrial injection dragon or dragonfly.
good injectors like F1 or DDP. DDP4's maybe?
A good turbo like a phat shaft or such. 64/14 maybe? depends on what you want to do with it. lag versus power.
exhaust manifold and 4" or 5" exhaust system.
Intercooler? Water/meth?
Lots of things out there to make power, just make sure you can hold the power first. so the studs and orings, gauges and built transmission are most important.
The 2wd are good on fuel.. thats not a bad choice for a built truck these days. More mods will raise fuel economy if you stay out of the throttle.
Oh yeah, depending on your mileage maybe a built head is cheaper for you. Pure diesel power has built heads for cheap, and offers o-ringing and port shaping.
