O.K., a friend of mine bought the 12-valve engine I had for sale! He said the local dealer wanted to replace it for him, $13000 out the door!!!! Is that right??do they think there are guys out there that will spend that much just to replace a engine? in a 98 no doubt! anyhow, he bought the engine from me and put it in, Now, his old engine, 3 different shops could not find out what was actually wrong with it! It smokes real bad at start up and it clears up a little when warm, but not totally! they pulled the pan and found shavings and said it came from a piston, or cylinder wall, or something. point is, it still runs strong! it was running 300 injectors and had a 215 pump that was played with. He kept the pump off the engine and was wondering . IS THIS ENGINE WORTH ANYTHING NOW?? can it be rebuilt easily? Is there anybody interested in it? it is out of a 98. He just wants to know if he can get anything out of it. let me now what you think. If anybody wants this engine speak up! thanx, shawn

I can get a 12v core w/ pump needs rings/bearings for $800...

figure the cost of sleeving a block w/ a bad hole or cutting a crank/etc. is a few hundred plus the time/etc.

If it didnt cost so much to ship, I would pay for that paper weight. How much is he lookin to sell it for, and how many miles? I'm lookin for a motor to re-build into a toy race motor in my spare time so i dont gota take the one out of the daily driver.
sounds like a fun project for somone that knows friends in a machine shop.

 

Well, I talked to him today, and he said he would like to get $500 for it without the turbo or injector pump! Will go from there! I suppose this will get told to be put in the classifieds! but the PMs I have had for this already it will be sold before to long!
