04 Injectors

My 04 Dodge cummins has 150,000 miles on it and I have a injector that is dribbling. I'm going to replace the whole set and would like to know what the thought is about Reman vs. New , Aftermarket ????? Most have warrenty but at 3,000.00 per set I don't want to waste my money. I do alot of heavy long distance pulling with this truck and have had great luck with all my Dodge trucks but 3rd gen engines need more t.l.c. because of the cost. Thanks

I had mine rebuilt by Industrial injection but only about 100 miles on them so Far. I hear good things about F1's rebuilds as well. If yours are rebuildable that is the cheaper route. I have heard of brand new failing just as quickly as rebuilds. I would recommend getting them rebuilt, then investing in aftermarket water seperator and 2 micron filter set up. Then run aditives that add lub and dry the fuel in every tank. The injectors are very fragile, don't like any water in the fuel and with the high pressures need more than 7-10 micron factory filtration. I would even recommend while having rebuilt some higher horse power tips. I went with 60s and my egt aren't bad with the factory turbo and tst towing my 5th wheel. Some people have claimed slight milage gains as well. I haven't ran a full tank yet to see.

Personally I would only buy new Cummins injectors. Make sure they say made in Mexico on the box. Cummins has designed a new injector instead of the ones built by Bosch. They are re-designed to prevent tip leakage. The old Bosch may be still on shelves so make sure they are not Bosch injectors.

Really? crap. Cummins wants 700 bucks for an injector but a bosch supplier can get them for me for about 400-450 through my company discount. Do you have any sources or anything i could look at before I decide on what im getting?

HotRodK: I would guess for the price those are "Plain Janes". You could call and see.
Brown's Diesel website shows Flux 1 nozzles only for $750.00. I think all of Don M's distributors can now sell Flux nozzles. You no longer have to send your injectors in unless they need to be rebuilt.

I would call one of the F1 dealers, you do not have your sig or your location filled out, so I'll paste the dealers for you. There will be a turn around time, but well worth it. Your injectors will be rebuilt, flow matched, and tested for around $1100.00, (plus removal/install), if no new parts are needed.

Thanks for the info, the costs are alot better than what I'm finding online. I think re-con will do allright as long as they come with a warrenty. The engine will have to come out next year for a rebuild. It has a lot of blow-by because a faulty air filter dusted the engine at about 90,000.
Thanks
