Thumbs up 700 mile club? Who's in...

I just joined the 700 mile club. I put 700.5 miles on one tank of fuel. I'll go ahead and be the founding member of the club, even some of you may have achieved this before.

The pucker factor was pretty high as I drove to the Flying J. The DTE had been on 0 for a while. I've got pictures of it and everything.

I filled with 34.039 gallons, for an average of 20.58 mpg. And that's around town driving. Let's just say for the last 10 gallons used, I drove pretty granny-ish.

I'm going to try to attach some pictures (on edit), but I usually don't have a lot of luck.

P.S. - If I don't respond to this for a while, its because I'm having trouble with this website & my computer. But, I will be back!

So...

If I get into this club after I install my Ramcharger tank, do I get a plaque or Hooters' gift certificate or something?

That reminds me of a Seinfeld episode where Kramer took a car salesman for a ride and they wanted to see how far they could go on "E".

700.5 miles is a long way to E.

I agree.....I'm kinda afraid to take my tank that low...my best so far is 560 miles to 1 tank....but I still had probably 1/8 to 1/4 tank left.

I normally fill up between 300 and 400 miles

I thought my 527 was good when I filled it with 25 gallons. Do longbeds have larger fuel tanks? My light was on when I filled up.

You might have to have categories in this 700 mile club. I'm waiting for someone that carries a 100+ gallons or so and says he's gone coast to coast and back....

Mine has a 35 gallon tank. I think 3rd gen short beds have a 34 gallon tank. I also have the tank vent mod done to mine, so I can get in about 38 gallons.

I can't help but wonder why would anybody do this? We know that on a 2nd gen truck like yours the Injection pump is sensitive to heat. With the IP being cooled by fuel pumped from the tank, through the IP and back, a low tank will not cool effectively.

A hot VP44 seems to end up being a dead VP44, I guess I just don't understand why anyone would purposely set out to kill their IP by running low of it's cooling life blood.

When mine gets down to 1/4 tank on a long haul I start looking for a watering hole.

I consistantly fill up around the 640-675 mark. I'm sure if I put the Banks on lvl 2 and kept my foot out of it I'd easily go over 700 on a tank.
