pyro lead wire routing
seems like my pyro lead wire can't reach to the thermocouple at the manifold...i've got an auto and i'm going through the clutch grommet. and i know about not shortening the wires....but what about adding length? does anybody have pictures or descriptions of how they routed their wires? oh yeah it's an isspro ev r3607t guage and r650s thermocouple.
thanks

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't had time to install mine yet but the wires look awful short. Also where did you put your sensor? Any specific spot on the manifold? Thanks

i havne't installed the pyro yet..but i have the point on my manifold center punched ready to drill. i'm putting in in the rear tube of the manifold where it turns into 2.
but i want to know everything will work before i put a hole in my manifold
the lead wire is AWFUL short....like 4 feet only.

I've installed pyros in pusher motorhomes (engine in rear) and have added on 20 feet of extra wire with no adverse effects. Just solder and well seal any splices.
Good instructions here also http://www.tstproducts.com/gauge_install.html

SilverDiesel,
You'll need a 10' thermocouple wire extension to go between the probe and the leads off the EV gauge box. I've never been able to stretch them all the way across unless you put the box under the hood (bad idea IMO). The 10' extensions are usually covered in bright yellow and have eyelets on both ends. Always screw the connections... don't solder them or it won't make a proper connection (unless you're using a thermocouple welder).

You can lengthen or shorten the thermocouple wire as you need. I work with them on a daily basis and have never seen one that has to have a specific wire length.
If you are soldering t/c wire together it is best to use silver solder.

My isspro EV gauges came with an 8-10ft lead wire extension, but i ordered some kind of pyro kit, so maybe thats why. I mounted my box above the fender well, and i think i might take a plastic bag and seal it up better to protect it from water. Kind of wish id have put it in the cab, but im not redoing it now.It should be fine where it is, especially if i cover it up. I think all you would have to do for an extension is just get some wire, and put some round connectors on each end, and just bolt on howerver much you need; i would think it would work fine like that. Good luck.

so i'm actually missing a piece then huh?....the instructions say explicitly not to cut the thermocouple wire...but it doesn't say anything about lengthening it.
