Spyntec front locking hub spindle kit
Hi everyone. I know this might be a popular topic but I searched and didn't find anything. I have an 05 4X4 3500 6spd with 75k miles on it. I am considering spending the serious cash on a Spyntec kit. I was wondering if anyone on here has done it? If so could you share the experience and let me know if its worth the money and you would do it all again or it was a waste of time, not worth the money, or a good idea but not a well made kit? Please let me know? Thanks

I have the dynatrac hub kit on my 04.5 since 2006. Not one issue with it- hard to believe it's been on my truck over ten years! I had a buddy help me with install. If I remember correctly it took about six- seven hours to install. Mileage increase- maybe .05 . Every couple of years, I re-grease the hubs. If you plan on keeping the truck along time- do it.

rjm Do you recall if the bearings were Timken or another USA manufacturer or cheaper quality SKF like what comes with the Spyntec? Also did it come with Warn hubs? Did you have to do anything to your t-case? My dad installed a front end locking hub kit many many years ago in a 1976 GMC Jimmy and if I remember correctly he had to change something in his full time 4x4 t-case. Thank you for the info

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!
No idea about the Spyntec hubs. I have had the Dynatrac hubs for many years with no issues. Did not get the Warn option, but chose their own. No problems at all with any of their product. No idea why it would be necessary to modify anything in t-case.

Your dad had to mod the t-case because the old 203s were a full time case. It was a mod to turn them into a true part time case which was cool because it gave you the option of having 2wd low.

I have the Spyntec kit on my 06 dually. It is a really high quality kit. It comes with Timken bearings. I have the MM hubs. The kit has about 20,000 miles with no issues whatsoever.
Unlike many reports I did not notice any dramatic difference after the install. It may be slightly lighter steering and possibly better fuel mileage but hard to tell.
I do like the fact that all the front driveline components are not turning (and wearing) unless the hubs are locked.

John everyone has their preference. I have gone over this with the guy behind the parts counter at Napa more than a few times. He has actually ordered me SKF bearings in and I still have them on the shelf. I immediately had him call directly to Napa corporate and ordered Timken's. He immediately asked me if I ever had a SKF fail? I said no. But my dad and I have been using Timken's since the 80's in dozens of trucks of light duty to heavy duty applications without failure. I pay the $10 shipping charge and wait the extra few days to get them in. Every Timken bearing I have ever bought was made right here in the USA. Just about every SKF bearing/race has China on it. Again, I am not saying anyone shouldn't use SKF bearings. I just will only ever use Timken.
JMckelvy thank you for your helpful perspective on the Spyntec kit. I do have MM hubs on the Cummins RC. I've never had an issue with them.
