engine clicking / Black Smoke!

engine clicking / White Smoke!
driving home when I heard a noise and it felt like the truck lost a little bit of power. Immediately afterward, smoke began pouring out of the exhaust pipe and a clicking sound started from the engine on passenger side. I cut the engine and coasted to the side. restarted the engine and it ran but smoke and clicking continued so I cut it again. I turned it over again this afternoon, it started without the clicking but with less power and white smoke continues to poor out.
I just bought this truck last September and it was in good shape with a clean record. 125,000 miles. 2500, 01, 24 valve. Automatic, Fuel injector pumps and fuel pump replaced 5 months ago (OUCH $$$$$$), oil change 4 days ago and oil still ok. I installed a fuel pressure gauge and it was at about 10 psi before and after the problem occurred (ie. No change in fuel pressure).
any ideas? I'm a bit disappointed in the fact that my first Dodge has broken down twice in 6 months of ownership with relatively low miles. Any help is greatly appreciated .

Take your air cleaner tube from the turbo and feel for up and down movement in the turbo shaft. Should be very little if any. Also look for evidence of the turbine scraping the housing.
Also, examine the exhaust manifold carefully for any soot, they are known to crack as well. I would start it with the hood up, should be evident what is making the noise.

Check your oil to see if it is making oil (has fuel in it)......you may have a trashed injector pumping loads of fuel into a cylinder...in which case Don't run the engine!

checked the turbo (its fine), No fuel in oil. There is a strange fuel stain on the area where the exhaust manifold attaches to the turbo. also the lift pump started acting up, it would pressurize fuel line to 9-10 psi when I turned key to on, then the gauge would slowly go back to zero after about 5 seconds. Starts very rough but will run, the loud tapping noise that was coming from the engine when it first happened hasn't been heard again in three quick start ups.
