Computer problems
I have been having a few problems with my tranny for a couple of years that I think are in the computer. For a pretty good while the cruse has been working up and down like there is very little time between on and off. Recently I pulled a trailer 4000 miles and as long as the trailer is connected electrically the cruse works correctly. I also have some issues with gear changes. When the truck gets to 43 MPH it will shift up and down as long as it is at 41-44 MPH. This makes for a problem in a 45 zone. My tranny guy said it is not throwing any codes so he can't diagnose it. Any help??? If I unhook the battries, is it possible this would help?

Truck is a 99 and no, I haven't changed governor or transducer. I have had the tranny rebuilt at 128000 and some mods were added. I don't remember what they were except the torque converter has had a torrington bearing installed.

before you spend the money on the tranny...
this is a common problem..very common..
most times its cause by electrical noise..
have you clean the grounds..all of the them..
battery terminals?
I tried all that too..kept coming back
then I added a ground wire form the alternator case to the chassis ground
near the passenger battery( the one between the battery and the air intake)
solved..its been 6 months so far..
I had the wire and the connectors so it cost me nothing

That might be part of it. I have noticed lately, my alternator has been making a squeeling noise like a bearing is going. It may be making some static noise. I will replace the alternator and add the wire for insurance.
Thanks.
Thanks.
