If you tighten the fuel pre-heater too much you will crack the housing. You can run a 2nd Gen fuel pre-heater with nothing more then the addition of a new wiring plug, and a small length of wire. The 2nd Gen unit installs with teh electrical plug 180* from where the 1st Gen plug lines up, and also runs a different wiring plug in.

Geno's sells the 2nd Gen pre-heater assembly. I installed one on my 89 motor a couple years back....had no issues with it.

Ok guys. I've stopped the leak. I used a gasket off of an old filter and it seems to have done the trick. I replaced the solenoid and connectors. I still can't get it to start. Is there anything else I can try to do? Why won't it start? I'm at the end of my rope here!

Thanks for the help

I had a similar problem awhile back not the leak but the no start. She started right up pulled out of the driveway. Got 300 feet from the house and she shut right off. Turned the key and all she would do is crank crank and crank. Boy I was peeved. All it was was the single wire that goes to the back of the injector pump. Wiggled the wire and made good contact and she started right up. The other time I had this problem was a bad ignition switch. Just passin it along for you to check.

I am with brcron. This has happened on one of my "newer" 93 cummins and this is all it was. To check, I ran a wire from the positive battery post to where the small electrical wire hooks on to the side of the injector pump. You should here a click and then go turn the key.

An older 93 had this type of problem and I never did figure it out. I replaced the ignition switch, checked all the fusible links, and replaced the ECM/PCM. Nothing solved it. I ended up installing a manual rocker switch for the wire referred to earlier on the FSS it is I believe and a high amperage push button starter. Drove it like this for many years before I sold it.

Forgot to add that I even put in a whole "brand new" used engine wiring harness. This did not do the trick either. I got fed up with it and just did the switches.
