replacing vacuum pump seals

I need to replace the vacuum pump seals on my 97 3500 4x4. Since I am cash lean, I am going to order the kit from hoesli diesel. I liked the fixinrams kit, seems like its bullet proof, but its a 45.00 more. Hoping that I could gain knowledge from others here that may have all ready done the replacement. So any tips that might save time or things to watch for would be appreciated.

Is it better to remove the PS pump from the vacuum so I don't have to disconnect the PS lines or is it better to pull it out as a unit?

thanks

I removed them both, and separated them still on the truck, IIRC. I never disconnected the PS lines.
