transmission woes

Thought I'd post this here, someone might know what this is, with all the know how on this board. Guy has a 46RE, in an 01 gasser, "trans slips" the previous owner told him. Acted like converter drain-back. He pulled the pan to do fluid and filter, and found this.


It's metal, about 3/16, by 1/16 thick.

Any ideas?

It's a piece of a snap ring from one of the clutch drums. Time for a rebuild.

I almost feel bad telling him it sounded like drain-back. He says it drives good yet. Maybe he can get by without having to replace too many parts if he gets it done soon?
