Two New Holset Turbos Coming Soon...
I've been looking for the ideal Turbo, as have many of you. On a whim I called a distributor I found on the web who sells most all brands. He told me of two new Holset Turbos that are coming out supposedly in the next 30 days. The one is called the Super 40. It is to have improved spoolup and cooling and is to be a direct bolt on for our trucks. The part number is 4027888. That is Holset's number. Dodge will no doubt put another number on it if they offer it. The other Turbo is classified for X-treme HP and Off-Road only. It is called a Pro 52. He didn't have the part number on it yet. Both are suppose to be out in the next month.

Holset new turbo entries
Supposedly the Super 40 is wastegated at 40psi. That should mean you don't have to "O" ring the head. The Super 40, per the sales guy I talked with said it would be a bolt on. Another Member who markets turbos said the Pro 52 will need an adapter, FYI.

The Pro-52 will require an adaptor, but ATS (not the tranny company), might have a solution for that soon.
A couple of weeks ago, the Super 40 was still having it's exhaust housings cast in one of the Carolina's.
I do not yet know if the Super '40 has bigger shafts, or better bearings than the current HX-35 based HX-40.
BTW, I do have the part numbers for the Holset, Super 40, Pro 52, and the Holset manufactured Pro 52 Adaptor.
I'm just waiting on a call back to find out more about them.

From what you know of these two turbos what are the parameters of usage,...for example...what RWHP would be required for the Super 40 and the Pro 52? IYO, although they are presently calling the Pro 52 an offroad only,...is it built to withstand daily usage on the street? How are they for spoolup and cooling comparatively speaking to the 04.5 stocker? Any rumored pricing available? Do you think either of these would be suitable to use in a twins setup with the 04.5 unit?

The Super '40 should be awesome in twin turbo setup. The Pro 52 will probably be a 450 - 500HP turbo.
The Super '40 will be a good turbo for the 375-425HP people. I know you could push it harder,, I'm making 430RWHP on a stock turbo, but EGT's suffer.
There is no pricing, or schedule for availability yet. All we know is "They are getting closer"
For spoolup,, they are going to be sucky COMPARED to the '04.5 stock turbo. They will spoolup well, but not in comparison. There will be a definate lag, compared to the near supercharger response of the '04.5. They will definatly stand up to higher boost numbers (stronger), but you will most likely see higher EGT's cruising, and under mild acceleration.
The Pro 52 is recomended for offroad use only, I'm going to say because of the incredable lag it will have, compared to the Super '40, and stock turbo's, and not because of longevity.
For twins, thet Pro 52 would be big league stuff. Piers has made over 700RWHP on an HX-40, and a 3B. Are you looking for more HP than that? The Pro 52 would be something you would see on a 1,000HP truck.

Do you think it's feasible to use the stock HX35 with the Super 40 for a twin setup? If yes,....where is good access for the plumbing?

The turbo's are too similarly sized.
The big turbo in a compound turbo setup has to be able to flow about twice as much as the small (primary) turbo.
Good source of piping? That would be through a PM...

Soooooo, what about this
Based on your input, would the Super 40 and the Pro 52 make a good combo for twins then? As far as PM,...your box is full. Tried it.
Is JR any closer on those EDMs for the 04.5. Feel free to PM me.
