Instead of buying 125 sockets individually, and I guarantee you I have all of these... 100 bucks for 125 sockets plus drivers and some extensions and even some wrenches.

All metric all the time. I am a BMW tech by occupation as well and its all metric all the time. But yah, lots of torx as well. And torx like to strip. When I was just starting out I was planning on going with some of the Sears tool deals like that and ended up not doing it because I barely use SAE at all. I think so far I have used it maybe twice. Other then that, I think craftsman is a good bang for the buck.

They have some pretty good deals at Sears right now until Dec. 8th. I just bought a 540 piece tool set from Sears last night for right around $1,000!

Got a new 52" wide top and bottom box also!

To me if you use hand tools every day Snap-On is hard to beat. Very comfortable in you hands. For air tools I use MAC tools. Sockets and extension it dosen't really matter. Swivels or Swivel sockets I use either MAC or Snap-On.(Had a few of these warrantied on the spot due to breakage. Never a question, just a new one. When I was a tech if I broke a part, call the guy (MAC or Snap-On) and they would run me one over if they were in the area. If I needed a tool I didn't have and they had it. They would get it to me quick. Sears,,,, A pain, have to run to Sears to get a new one and not always had the time. If it is personal use Craftsman tools are O.K.

Yeh it's a good deal and Craftsman are decent tools. Trouble with a set like that is you get lots of stuff you'll never use. Certain things only Snap-on will do like 1/4 drive flex sockets, off set wrenches and 1/4 drive flex extensions. Mac sells 1/4 drive extra hard sockets for driving sheet metal screws that don't round out. Aircraft including Airbus are all sae and 12 point a lot of the time and my Landrover is Whitworth and BSF and the rest is metric.

Snap on are very nice tools, but for me I just can't justify spending that kind of money on tools that I only use on the weekends.

Now if I were to use them everyday then that'd be a totally different story, but I just wrench for the fun of it and good ol' Craftsmen has never let me down so far!

I agree with you, we get fliers in at work for MAC tools and Snap-On, reading through it and looking at the prices

Now I use my tools everyday for my short 9 hour shift working on heavy trucks, coach buses, whatever bigger than a normal size vehicle. My toolbox is mostly filled with Canadian Tire tools...they are lifetime warranty and they are a lot cheaper than MAC or Snap-On. I guess it's just me but I can't see myself spending $250 on a little socket set, when I can buy the same socket set, with the lifetime warranty for around $100

Just to have tools in the trailer I picked up a 148 peice set of Crescent tools from Costco. Darned if they arent made in China! I mean the price was right and they are ok for emergency work but Crescent used to be made in USA.
