Found this out while looking at some reports....guy has a grudge for sure....
From CNN:
"Over the weekend, LAPD said it was reopening the case that resulted in his termination.
Dorner accused his training officer of kicking a mentally ill man during an arrest in 2007. The LAPD ruled the complaint unfounded and kicked Dorner off the force for filing a false complaint.
Dorner challenged his firing in court and lost.
Suspect's grudge dates back to 2007 complaint
In a manifesto released last week, Dorner blamed racism and corruption in the LAPD for his termination and vowed to wage "unconventional and asymmetrical warfare" against LAPD officers and their families. He called it a "last resort" to clear his name and strike back at a department he says mistreated him"

There is a gun battle going on right now in Big Bear, they think they might have found him, he was held up in a cabin and was holding a family hostage, he was found driving a stolen white dodge pickup.

I had a hunch he was bedded down up there, but surprised it took so long to spot him.
His actions seem to be focused on Law enforcement personnel. Hopefully he won't hurt any hostages....hopefully.

The cabin he was in was directly across the street from where they were having the news confrences for the last week, he could see them.
Although it is probably him, rumors circulating amongst the police is he escaped and went down the mountain in a police car.
Gas gernade caught the cabin on fire.
Also they are still searching every car comming out of the mountain.

102 bullet holes in the Tacoma those women were driving. Bullet holes all over the place. Guess they were shooting from just about every direction. But the people who live on that street understand why they did it. helloooooooo.....

102 holes in the truck and only a couple in the occupants? Certainly gives testament to their aiming abilities. I guess if they shoot at you, just slowly walk away....

It is kind of funny since no innocent people got killed (of course getting shot without dying isnt fun either).
I normally always side with the LEO's, I can understand how keyed up they were and also the truck was (supposodly) driving strangely
but that is a lot of rounds fired at a vehicle that had two unarmed women in it.

This is just plain inexcusable. They should lose their jobs, and their right to carry privately.
And the LAPD should be armed with BB guns and be required to spend 10 hours a week at the range.
They claim the public shouldn't be armed because they might accidentally shoot an innocent bystander. The citizen that took aim at the shooter in the Oregon mall, Nick Meli, pulled up because he couldn't clear the target. While Nick waited for a clear shot, the shooter shot himself. Looks like about 100 times the performance of the "professional" folks on LAPD
Just found out that not only the lame stream media didn't carry anything about Nick Meli's role, but the police briefing praised all the responders that came to process the scene and carry off the bodies, and never mentioned Nick, whose action terminated the event without further loss of innocent life.

I believe he (Nick Meli) was hit 3 times and is a paraplegic now.
His decision to hold fire because of innocent's is honorable, yet it cost him dearly.
I have read and know personally that some officers don't even practice with their handguns and long guns until qualification time. I understand the firearm is just one of many tools an officer may rarely need, but seems to me an awfully important one when needed and needed fast.
The mindset is "keep the peace" but the opponent usually lives the entire opposite with nothing to lose or leave behind. Tough spot to be in.
My biggest concern as a CCP holder is getting involved and then getting misinterpreted as the criminal when authorities arrive, especially without a "Good Guy" halo over my head.
I see too many armed citizens as distractions to police if the threat is ongoing and may get somebody killed that was trying to help.
I don't want to get involved, ever , in a shooter situation, but I also do not intend to become a victim without a fight.

Maybe I am thinkin of the wrong shooting, but I heard on the news the guy who drew a gun and didn't fire got hit and seriously injured in the Oregon incident.
I'll try to find the story.
Anyway, I like it when the perp ends it and we don't have to pay for him the rest of his life...Even better if a good guy takes him out.
