Luckily my wife understands my love for older vehicles. I also do model railroading and am a rail fan. I have lots of projects to work on.

She also likes the fact that it is cheaper to fix the old stuff rather than having a monthly car payment.

Yeah, I know, I don't have one of those and if I did, she would probably want the big house anyway. Alas, I'm not rich anyway ...Mark

What about air bag suspension on the front and rear? That should soften up the head thrashings. I think there would have to be some modded brackets for it to work properly though. I like the way my truck rides.. they don't make things like they use too.

I liken it to the difference between modern performance cars and old muscle cars. The new ones are quicker, smoother, ride and handle better plus get better fuel mileage but the old muscle cars were loud, raw and just brutal. No torque management or traction control, just raw untamed power. I like the old muscle cars better.

I could not agree more. When I was married, I traded my wife's 1985 Olds 98 for the 1968 Impala SS convertible, 396, 325 hp, numbers matching, cool hot rod muscle car that is sitting in my garage. At the time, the Impala wasn't very coveted unless it was an early 60's car. Now, it is pretty coveted. If I ever get this place in Mexico done (the details are killing me ), it is my next project. The great thing is that when we got divorced, she wanted my 1988 Ford Ranger and completely forgot about the SS, sometimes it is good that they don't know too much about cars ...Mark

Thanks, truer words have never been spoken. It is in a garage that was built in 1925, so it was built for Model T's, it occupies every square inch and I have to do a shimmy to get by it...Mark

You should see what I've done to an original 72 340 4 speed Duster. It was a no option car except for the original rare side/roof stripe.

My oldest son has it now.

Post up a pic! Did you modify it a little? Was it a 6 pack setup?...Mark

That is true I really don't have a plan yet. It was sitting in my garage for 19 years. I had left about a quarter of a tank of gas in it. Everyone said that I would have to replace the tank. I used a vacuum cleaner to suck it all out, blew out the fuel lines, replaced the fuel pump and carb filter, put a temporary inline filter in it, threw in a battery and she fired right up. When I get back, I am going to do a leak down test on it to see if it is sound. That will play big in what I do. The really cool thing is that I was cleaning out the trunk and I could see the corner of a piece of paper down in the space between the fender and trunk floor. It turned out to be an ad for the raffle of this car by the Florida Cattlemen s Association to benefit a home for boys. I showed it to a friend and he said there is no way that it is the same car. Really? What kind of out of this world coincidence would that be, what a moron. Unfortunately, no build sheet...Mark
