Grill guard advice
Well, I'll let it be known right off the get go I financially at the moment cannot afford the custom bumper/ grill guard combos that buckstop (I think that was the name) riunel, etc offers. What I'm looking for is the ones I see mounted on our trucks and ramchargers from back in the day. Every time I spot one on a dodge 1st gen truck or ramcharger, its on the freeway, and inquiring about it is out of the question when he's 3 lanes over. I often wonder if the ones I see on the older chevy's would work. I just don't know the Chevy model years. Does anyone in the aftermarket still offer these? Their known as grill guards, but by the looks of them they would do better as an auxiliary light mount which only protects about 3' of the grill really, which for now would suit me fine. My dream one day is to have enough play money to have every ding on that truck removed and a sweet paint job done, along with bed spray coated and all new chrome trim. At that time I would consider one of those custom bumper grill guard combos. For now, I'm stickin with the 1993 look. Anyway, if anyone knows where to locate one of those 2 bar chrome guards for our trucks or know of one from another make that would work on my 93 let me know, please. Thanks in advance

If I am understanding what you are envisioning, they are a common sight on 1973-1980 Chevrolets; not so common on the 1981-1987 due to the design of the front bumper not being very compatible to the way those guards mounted to the frame.
If properly mounted to the frame, you could push anything the truck could push; and, connected to tow-hooks mounted low on the guard, pull the truck with such a guard mounted out of any hole he was stuck in.
Of course all of the above is considering the guard in question is a one-piece welded steel affair.
To save money both in shipping and construction, several companies started offering a look-alike guard that bolted together and was made of very thin tubing; those were purely for looks.
I have the proper heavy welded steel guard on my 1978 K20.
When I replaced the chrome street bumper, many many years ago, and built a proper heavy-wall double-tube bumper, I incorporated that same grille-guard into it's construction; to say that it has been abused is a drastic understatement, and it is as straight and ding-free today as it was in 1978 when I first got it.
If you are decent with a torch or plasma cutter, there is no reason why you couldn't alter one from a Chevy to fit your Dodge.

I would like.to have something built by these people custom for my truck.

I used to buy push bumpers from CHP (Highway Patrol) and modify them to fit my trucks, super heavy duty and they only cost $5.00.

Sounds like you want the "Bambi basher" grille guard like the one on the Duke boy's General Lee Charger.
The one that just bolts to the factory bumper…right?

Thanks ever-so-much for posting that picture; that is exactly what I had in mind for the son's truck.
How much space is between the bumper and grille ??
I plan to make enough room between there to stand in when working under the hood.
