We take two Boston Butts and slow cook them all day long, 12 hours. After that, we take them and set them on a cutting board and take big forks and rip the meat into small shreds. I like it plain as well as the sauce we make here, raw honey, sweet baby ray's, and a few other ingredients, heated and reduced, then spread all over the meat, then we heat it again...

Gotta know numbers first... past ten, then we can get the crayolas...

Evenin. Ate some great chow tonight. Played with the kegerator trying to get it right. It's an art, and I'm not Picasso...

 

Dang it! Suddenly the top-ramen I'm having tonight doesnt sound as good as it did. I even put a hot dog in it.

Went out with the wife today. Made a stop at cabelas while we were out. Got some ammo and a few things for the Mauser. We looked at gun while we were there. The wife like the Ruger 10/22 alot, would be good for her to start out with. I found my next gun there, they have a Russian SKS on the used rack that is in very good shape and has the folding bayonet. They had a Norinco SKS but it wasn't a nice as the russian, it was pretty beat up.

Went to the truck pull at the county fair grounds tonight. We had a good time there, lot of good trucks pulling and some carnage too. A couple chevys lost driveshafts. The leader had a very good hook! He had a 2nd gen dodge that had lots of work done to it. He pulled 361.3 feet with his truck. 2nd place pulled 310 ft.

Crap at the madhat house is having a meltdown. Silly stupid stuff, but it's amazing how important some hurt feelings can be. I know it'll all be blown over in the morning, but DANG IT BOY!!! (I'm nice and calm, not worried. Just saying...)

Even better, while I was off sulking in the garage (aka man land) about it, one of my Marines called me, said that one of our junior knuckle heads was bleeding from is you know what, and was going to the ER.

Well... no crap.

Only as a Marine can you get a phone call like this. It has went up the chain, too. From the Pfc that it's happening to, to the Cpl that is in charge of him, to the Sgt that is in charge of the Cpl, to the SSgt that is in charge of the Sgt, then to me (I'm the boss of this mess), then to my GySgt (the boss of me)... how much further is it going? Only time will tell. Oh, wait, he had to go to the ER, so we have to do a flash report that goes all the way up to the General.

"Ok, what happend this weekend?"

"Good Morning, General. We had a Marine bleeding out of his you know what."

Ohhh... I'm fired. hahaha. I watched something on Wal-Mart this weekend, I bet there was never a manager that got a call at two in the morning about something like this...

"This is Bill, the head cashier... Joe, the cashier on register number two on the graveyard shift had to go to the hospital... he was bleeding from his you know what."

Gave a nephew one of my Chinese (chromed barrel) SKS's some years back. He manages a cranberry farm in OR. That gun is the “truck” gun and has been left in the rain, dropped off moving vehicles and treated terribly. A garden hose with brush followed by a regular cleaning and it shoots very well. There are several good companies that sell new stocks that do not collapse---unless, you violate their warranty by drilling out the plastic slug that keeps it from collapsing. They even provide pictures telling you what not to do or else you will wind up with a folding stock. Only reason I mention the Chinese is that I find no shoot-ability issues with either one and despite what has been said, both the Russian and Chinese chromed their bores but not in all years and models, so look for a chrome bore. My Russian SKS looks nicer but does not shoot any better than the Chinese.
I hated the 0100AM phone call after finally falling asleep. It had better be good to wake me up.

That's funny too, especially after the post above. But seriously, I don't think I'd ever heard of any part of the pig referred to as the 'Boston Butt' until I left New England. Maybe Tim can tell us if he's ever heard of it... he's been in New England since dirt was invented too!

For the bald flat prairies an inch of rain can cause some havoc, kinda like the desert, where you live now. We got over 4" since about 7 pm last night with heavy rainfall warnings still in effect. The ground is saturated. One example of how wet the ground is...

We drilled out several fence post holes. All went 4 ft deep. Each hole was full of water before the next one was done. Good thing we were using some Post Haste to 'cement' the posts in place. Just put the post in the hole...hold it down......then add the mix and stir/tamp. Sets up real nice. Right now I can see water sitting 50 ft up towards the house. Another 20-25 ft and its gonna get wet in here.

Our average rainfall annual is maybe 6". We are getting that every 4-5 days and the forecast is for more all week. Get ready for expensive grain products like bread. If the floods do not ruin the crops, the frost will. Its not a good situation. Even oil might be going up as the access to the land rigs is getting very difficult.
