Code P1754 -- Throttle Valve Actuator
Threw code P1754 on my '05 Laramie last week (New Years Eve), 48re started shifting funny. Couldn't find much info on any code lists, but did find one old post from gman07 -- thanks for the pm, btw. It WAS the throttle valve actuator.
Truck actually starts out in 2nd gear, shifts late to 3rd (2500 rpms or so).
Also -- kudos to Cowboy Dodge in Cheyenne, WY. The dealers here in Denver were too busy to even talk to me, and since I was leaving on a trip on January 3 (meeting someone in Laramie), I was in a bind. Cowboy Dodge got the part (from Denver) at 9 am and got me on the road quickly...
So if anyone needs to add P1754 to your lists or this thread pops up in a search, here's your answer...

Does anyone know if this part is replaceable without dropping the transmission or opening it up? Can I do it in my driveway with common hand tools?
thanks in advance

It's simple to change, it has 2 little bolts holding it to the side of the transmission and a wire harness that plugs into it.
When you remove the two bolts, lift it straight up an inch and it will come right off.

Code 1754 and 1755
I see the the replies. Can anyone suggest what to do. I just purchased a 2007 dodge 5.9 with the automatic. Excellent truck. I t started to shift from (i assume first to second at 2400 rpm and the check engine light is on). The rest of the gears seem OK. Was just at the dealer last week for the 44 point inspection and passed with flying colors. It has codes P1754 and P1755. Autozone says Throttle valve. Can anyone suggest what to do and where to get the best price. I can install myself.
Thanks

or throttle valve actuator, might want to check the solenoids on the transmission itself as well, governer and pressure solenoid, if that fails then consider the ttva motor or actuator..
DISREGARD if its not the same part im thinkin

thank you
Thanks, I took it off with the two bolts. As I unplugged the electrical connector, I noticed two of the flat pins were corroded. I cleaned the pins and reassembled and it seems to shift fine and after removing the neg leads, the ce light is out. thank you for your help. i'm new with the diesels and will be asking alot of questions.

Same here...maybe
I'm getting codes P1755 & P2509. Yesterday, she lost power between 1 & 2. I let off the throttle and it went into second. RPM'd, but no shift at first. Did this 5 times and has ran fine since. Engine light came on, but now its off. If it is the TTVA, anyone have a part number?

Hey all sorry to bring back an old thread. Yesterday I went out to start my truck and after letting it warm up for about 10 minutes went out and had a CEL and the p1754 code. Like everyone else stated truck won't shift out of 1st until about 2500 rpms and shifts HARD. Well, my truck got COVERED in salt and was wondering if maybe some salt/corrosion got in the throttle valve actuator area and faulted it. That's best case scenario. But if not, Has anyone found a decent deal online for this part? And does anyone happen to have the part number handy? Thanks all
