I want to check my airfilter , put a vacuum fitting in a 4" piece of ex. pipe that goes between the airfilter and the stock hoes to turbo , no airbox , just a heat deflector .
I have not cleaned this filter since now [ 1 yr ] not much on it , but I thought I would see the needle wiggle at least , nothing .
So now I'm wandering if there is a better way [ low tech ] to see if the airfilter is restricting , so on with the ideas .
Thanks John

It would seem that these filters are getting reports from either end of the spectrum , this is the 2nd time I've heard of an issue , thats one of the reasons why I'm checking , lots of them out there , I would thing there is a condition that would create your issue , wet , dirty , ???
I can not get the vacuum gauge to move at all , and I have just disconnected and sucked on it , and it does work .

No problems with mine yet, probly 8 months. I blew it out with an air chuck at 15 psi and a good bit of dust let loose, but its hasnt crushed at all even when sucking enough air to make 50+ boost.
I'm still trying to check my method of testing , and see if there is a better place / way to check restriction .
Then putting a vacuum fitting/gauge at base of airfilter ?

I have an Amsoil Micro-fiber air filter. I use it daily driving and for work...lots of dirt roads... because it is easier to keep clean. But it does not flow as well as my Pro Guard 7. No loss in mileage, filters very well and works fine up to say 40 pis boost..... but performance drops off at the track or WOT on the street.
Initially, I thought it was flowing as well, and may have reported it as an excellent full time replacement. I no longer feel that way....may just be a twins problem? They are well made and I have trouble seeing them caving in?? Never saw it at 65 psi boost.
Your testing sounds valid.... can't believe it's not stopped up after one yr. I blow mine out once a month and get a lot of dust/particulate. But , as I said, I do lots of back roads.

I was wanting to check before I clean , before & after test , but if I have no restriction dirty then I would not get any reading clean , or maybe its not dirty enough to clean ? / worry about .
I plan on adding a permanent in cab vacuum gauge for airfilter .

John,
My original testing was to see if I got same boost level and same rate of climb on the boost gauge with and without the Amsoil filter. I saw no difference other than some light barking with it that I did not get with the Pro Guard 7.
Christian, at BD told me they flow tested several filters with their twins, including Amsoils new one.... and none flowed as well as Pro Guard 7 (with adequate filtration).... except AFE's Racing version of that filter (gained 3% power). So maybe your test gauge is not sensitive enough? Is water column needed to measure flow.... don't know.
