Ultimate HD transmission

Tranny went out on my 06 dodge had a full load of hay and about the time the boost hit 60psi, fourth gear let go.
I will take my tranny apart in the next day or 2 to see if it is repairable but I assume it is not. I could just replace it with another G56 but I prefer to put something in a little more HD. NV5600 really isn't a option for me since I broke one of those in the past. Actually the G56 lasted a extra 60K.

I am interested in going with a Eaton Fuller 6 speed FSO-8406A rated at 860tq. Or would consider any transmission that would work. I also need to be able to make this work with 4 wheel drive!!!
Has anyone done any research or know of a place or a person that does this kind of work????

How much are you looking to spend? You could opt for an allison but not sure it would be much differant then what you got? Maybe a Georend?

His is a manual tranny.

I have heard of guys installing 10 speeds into their trucks. My buddy in Texas is looking at a 2nd gen right now that is for sale with a 10 speed installed. I told him to send me pics asap but he has not been able to get ahold of the guy.

Well if you gonna go a route like this, why not go with a unsyncro'd 7-speed? And since this will be a custom job and you need 4WD, then make yourself a divorced transfercase set up. This way you can pick and choose your tranny and not limit yourself to a special tail shaft design and your transfercase will be all gear driven and cast iron.

Personally I would rather drop my truck off for a new tranny every 50k than shift that much.

Finally got time to pull the tranny all the way. Doesn't look bad from what I can see. I have 2 gears that need to be replaced. I don't have the case split all the way. Darn thing just wont pop open. So their still could be more wrong.

If I can fix it cheap thats what I will do for now.

That 10 sped brings back nightmares of when I was learning to drive big rigs....

Hated all that shifting... of course I learned on 13 and 15 speeds behind a cummins 350 and a Marmon v-12.
