ULSD vs Reg vs Low S Diesel

Hi there,
I have a 2007.5 Dodge Diesel with the new 6.7 Cummins. We are planning a trip to the Baja in Mexico and ULSD is only available 1/2 way down the baja. I called Cummins and they said that using Low Sulfur Diesel would not hurt the engine :thumbup1: ...however it could damge the DPF...I have tried to read about the Regen stuff and now im gettin confused...My question is Will LSD or Reg Diesel screw up the DPF? or will the Regen burn it off?
What is Regen? How do u know the truck is Regen'd?
Muchos Gracias from Canada

The DPF is only compatible with ULSD. LSD and reg diesel (do they even make the stuff anymore?) will clogg the DPF and possibly damage it. And possibly void the warranty. I'd be hesitant in using anything but ULSD.

Rustyshakelford or whatever his name is ran thousands of miles on LSD because when he purchased his truck it wasn't even readily available yet.

He's probably the best person to talk to.

Get a big auxillary fuel tank .

I've heard of people running it on a limited basis and it not hurting them.

In Mexico now

I am in San Carlos, Senora now, with an aux tank full of ULSD, but wondering what to do next as I will be here several months more. Have a 2007 6.7. and am considering running a 50/50 mixture. I spoke to one fellow here with a new Allison Chev who has run 5 tanks through without problems. I could sure could use feedback from anyone who has actually run regular diesel in the 6.7. Does anyone know anything for sure on this subject?

Has anybody out there really thought about the LSD/ULSD thing or is everybody just quoting what they've heard or been told.

The comment that Cummins has stated that the engine won't be hurt is new and good information, but everything else is a bunch of "Big brother said...."

Nothing is "new" about it. We've all known ULSD would do nothing to the cummins, nor any other diesel motor. In fact, any of them run just fine on LSD as well as ULSD. It's the emissions packages attached because of the changing EPA standards that makes it bad to run the different fuels.
