i was wondering if anyone had done a set of twins on a non i/c truck. if so, how well do they work, how much does it bring down egts and what does it do to the sound of the exhaust. forgive my ignorance but i'm not to familiar with twins. i did my upgrade, i just really want to do twins for the heck of it HAHA

twins will be really effective on lowering egt's and making more power even without an intercooler.

My brother and I build a set for our '89. It is totally worth it. Pulls like a crazy at 60 psi.

It made the exhaust pretty quiet, even with the hood stack. You can really hear it when the big one comes alive.

As far as EGT drop I really can't say cause we never had a pyro before. I don't believe it has even been to 1400* since putting them on. The EDM's ought to change that.

most high HP pulling trucks and 12v drag trucks use twins without an IC. Of course they run w/m though. lol It would drop your EGT's but would also run more boost so you'd need some good tight head bolts or studs.

You'll need head work,

If the big boy is putting otu 60psi like most, your stock headgasket will last like 5 seconds. lol

I know a guy that ran his twins, with 60+psi, for months with a stock gasket, and only a retourque. I wouldn't try my luck though.

he just replaced his head gasket but might want to get some head bolts just to hold it together.

well i just got the stacks on and will be posting pics hopefully soon. the hg is only a few months old so yeah, headstuds will be a definate upgrade before hand. just have to figure out how to build them and what are the best turbos to use for a daily driving type set up.

You'll have alot of different responses to that question, most people will say either a H1C or HX35 over a 3B. I haven't built my own yet but drove a truck with that set up and then they got swapped for a modded S300 over a S480. I personally like the 300/480 combo, didn't do the greatest towing though but man was it fun to drive.

just keep your turbo you have but get a W/G housing on it, and get a S300 low pressure side. It wouldn't cost a ton of money and would spool really nice. No reason to go with a huge low psi turbo that will spool slow if you dont plan on making 500+hp. Your GDS III and S300 will run 400-450whp easily at a safe EGT.

Hurry up with the pics, I wanna see the stacks. lol

You need bigger than a s300 sized turbo that everyone sells as a single for the primary/bottom/low pressure turbo. I've heard that a K31 waste-gated turbo is a great bottom turbo for a lower hp towing setup.
