TST Problems, higher settings, DAILY

Ok so ive been away awile and havent got to get on and check if its a currunt problem or not but my TST has been turning itself up almost every 3 or 4 times I turn my truck on.

When it first started it was only tq and hp that were all the way up to 9 sometimes. Then I would rely on the cooldown timer and it would switch itself from auto to set and the set would be real high. Then I would get lots of surging and it would have rail preassure at 9 and even sometimes it would have timing set at 15*. My truck has been idling rougher and rougher.

My current settings are as follows in case that would matter: smarty beta 4.4 sw8, mp-8 25%(sometimes), TST @ hp3 tq 2 timing 9 or 12 auto and with the a5k lagging its way around town.

Even if I check the settings before each time I drive, and I do, (major pain in the butt) I still suspect that the thing is on settings that the display is not reading.

So I called TST's techs and there answer was "if you use your mp-8 for preassure just unplug the TST preassure harness and it wont matter if its on 9 all the time". I said that, band-aid doesnt work for me I paid to have all the adjustability. Also then he said if I uninstall the whole thing and send it back they will try a different program in it but they dont really know what is causing them to self adjust. Ive only had it a few months and I still want it I just want it to work. Do any of the guys at TST ever respond on this site?

I have heard of others having this problem too so I check mine periodically just in case but so far I have had no problems to speak of.

As for advice I dont really have any for ya, just wanted you to know you are not an isolated case.

On a side note (pm me if you want) hows the A5k working for ya?

mine has just shot the timing all the way to 18* about three weeks ago took back to tst and they fixed it back to auto for me and it has not gone back since. but they told me they don't know the reason for it and when they fixed it they said i will more than likely be back to have it fixed again. they said i can have a custom tune that fixes it to auto permanently but then goes your adjustability. mine is also about four years old and they said it may best for me to sell mine and buy a newer one. anyway it has been a week or so since the fix and everything seems just fine

I guess new or old there is no logic why but on some trucks you just get this awsome SURPRISE. I wonder if changing out the whole unit wouldnt help?

Anyway thats kinda lame that they told you to try a newer one since they know they are having problems with them also. Mines 2-3 monthes old.

Wap the ak5 is really explosive but I could probably do my taxes in my head while I wait for it to light. But thats not a jab @ the turbo cause I was expecting it. I just wish I could afford an A2k or A3k to stack on it. Not to mention that now I get sum backfiring from timt to time, (TST I think), and fluttering, (modded cp3 I think), and my idle sticks even at idle sometimes, (smarty I think), and worse fuel mileage, (right foot im sure). Other than that its perfect. I just need some more tuning and installing time, a new TST, new smarty program, a2k, dual cp3's, bigger sticks, and lots of suspension and it will be perfect. Someday.

My box turns on occasionally to different HP levels. The torque always stays the same. Most of the time I don't know until I get on it and it rockets away......most of the time I run the PPE only, so when the tst is on the difference is huge......I deal with it......

Call Mark at TST and let him know. I think there is an updated program to fix this.

I will call and ask for Mark as that kid I talked to didnt make me feel to good about sending it in to them for it to maybe fix it. That one harness is a PAIN to get in.

Will, I know that would help to have the dual pumps and injectors. I have those 80 hp inj. I bought from another member but no time to install them and im thinkin that I might sell them to get bigger ones now that I have ENOUGH turbo. Im just not wanting to have to change the injectors again after i get the top turbo. I love my truck though I just wish I could trust the tst.

Mine does the same thing. Literally every setting has changed by itself at one point or another. Does it every couple of days. I talked to tst's techs and they told me to put my settings where I want them, make sure the truck is off and unplug the remote then drive it for a couple days to see if it's the remote or the box. I've done it a couple times now for several days each time and I believe it's the remote cause nothing changes as long as the remote is unplugged. TST told me to send in the remote with a description of the problem and they will send me a new one. The problem is I don't want to go without the adjustability but I am getting pretty tired of checking all my settings every time I start my truck.
