TSB on ram Diesel 2007 auto trans governor solenoid, Fantastic Fix!
There is a TSB on Ram Diesel 5.9 2007 auto trans governor solenoid. I had it done on Monday by my Dodge dealership, It has made my 2007 Ram 3500 4x4 SRW drive like a different truck.!!!
I always felt that my trans was not as nice as the 518 that I have in my 1975 D200 Club Cab with 93 CTD driveline. My 07 trans was very bulky shifting and very abrupt into overdrive etc, I always hoped that the rumours that the software was in break in mode were true, but at 30,000 miles the trans was still very clumsy.
The governor solenoid is a great fix for these trucks. They have changed the style of the solenoid as well. There looks to be a early software flash that must have been trying to address the problem. If you have had this flash you may have to go back to the stock version, but I don't know this all I know for sure is that they did not touch my software at all, only the new solenoid!
My truck shifts fantastic now through all gears, its way different! Love driving it now.

Here is the TSB: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2007/21-009-07.htm
It's a two year old fix. It says nothing about it being a different design solenoid, though.

There you go, thats the one,
It changed more than just my 1 2 shifts mine is smoother all over the speed range, overdrive is much nicer as well. It fixes the governor so the software adaptation can take effect in the trans the way it was developed.
Cheers

So is this a new design or the same old one? I just want to know for sure. Cause I have to change mine and don't want to put the same style one back in. Thanks.

Its a different design of solenoid, I had both of them in my hand. Its a great update for this trans. Much better smoother tighter shifts.

Might try to get one from the dealer then. Depending on price. Napa has one also but don't know if it is an upgraded one. The chrysler part # cross references to it. The dealer up here is outrageous with price but shipping usually makes it worth it.

Those of you who are ordering a new solenoid and transducer are you going with the factory parts from Dodge?
I see that Suncoast is selling a "upgraded" solenoid kit.

^It's under Kits and Components.
