Triple Bully Dog

A buddy bought an AFE breather and a TBD for his 05 CDT 3500.The guy that sold the setup to him told him that he didn't NEED gauges and that their garage didn't install them with TBD.True or False ?I was under the impression that they (gauges)were needed no matter what mods you did.

If he keeps the triple dog on towing then no gauges neeed but performance or extreme gauges yes Plus it is always good to know what your truck is doing.

As long as your buddy is smart than he doesn't need gauges. I keep my BDTD on performance unless I am towing something and my truck is fine. I have had my BDTD since right after Christmas. I do not have gauges. So, like I said , if he is smart and doesn't go overboard and act stupid than he is fine.

i think gauges are important to know what your truck is doing. I have fuel pressure, boost, tranny temp & pyro in mine they are nice to have. I have alot invested im my truck if somethings wrong I wanna know.

its good to know whats going on. You can trouble shoot lots easier....

for example....i thought i was having dufueling issues for a while.....

yea my lift pump died. I was in-between fuel pressure gauges so i didn't know.

I know have a pyro, boost, fuel pressure, and rail pressure.

On tow your EGT's are lower than stock!!!! but still, get gauges...and get to know your truck.

Yeah, I second that. It's a good idea to have gauges when towing even with a stock truck.

cuz my tranny temp sees the tick mark between 180 and 210 every once in a while. so getchesum guages to be on the safe side

Ok, i will put in my opinion now.

You don't need gauges as long as you get a boost fooler to keep your egt's in check($70). I know this because i have gauges and have towed with them and watched egt's, and it won't get hot on performance mode. As far as the transmission goes, the stock one is a piece of junk. When you drive a modded one you wont know how you could stand the stock one before.

As far as fuel pressure goes the stock lift pump has a very small percentage of going out and will most likely not cause you any grief as long as you keep it in the performance mode. That being said it is a good idea to upgrade to a better fuel system anyways.(Glacier Diesel Power)
