Tranny trouble.

Im driving down the road today, unloaded, and slowly accelerating......it started going in and out of overdrive, real quick back and forth. I was going about 50mph when it did it. I let off, ....and slowly got back on the throttle, and it did the same thing, ....shifting back and forth real quick, like probably twice per second. I stopped and turned down my box to 0,....took off again and it shifted fine, ..like its supposed to. I turned the box back up to 2, and its still fine.

I dont know if the box would really have anything to do w/ it. It could be a coencedence, ...but this scares me. I work out of my truck, pulling loads. What could this be?

It's a common problem. Check the grounds on the battery, pcm, chassis grounds, etc.... Weak batteries can also cause this. You can take the grounds off the battery and solve the problem for about a week. I finally had to buy a noise filter from DTT to solve it.

After I installed my Juice it started doing that really bad, I cleaned the grounds to the battery and all was well so far. That has been 3 or 4 days ago.

Thumbs up DTT noise filter!

Just buy the noise filter from DTT and be done with it! They advertise that it works 80% of the time. Easy install.

Whats a "noise filter"? What does it do? Where does it go? And, how does it affect the way my tranny shifts?

The alternator sends electrical spikes through the system causing alot of electrical gremlins. The noise filter is sold by DTT and helps get rid of alot of those spikes. It's really simple to install, just two wires.

DTT also indicates that there are numerous grounds to check and clean and that they should be done before resorting to the noise filter.

ATS has a fix also somewhere on this site... May do an APPS reset while you are there too!

All good info here, DTT also will suggest that you get your ECM updated from Dodge, and that you make sure that your APPS is sending the right voltage to the PCM. I'm part of the 20% that the DTT noise filter did work for The ATS Re-wire worked for my situation, Suncoast also sells a rewire kit if you don't have the wire and connections.

Cleaning your grounds and getting your batteries and alternator tested are the first steps. let me know if you need any details on the rest of this info if that doesn't work.

Good luck.
