The tranny is starting to slip Hum which tranny to put in???.

So i want to do some home work first. I have heard and read alot about the DTT and the ATS trannys and have read these are both great trannys. As though it looks to get a DTT tranny Does a guy have to go to Abbotsford, B.S. Canada (1800 miles one way) to get one? I live in Minnesota so im looking for something thats not across the world. Getting a ATS looks a lot easier only 945 miles to colorado. Do both of these vender have dealers closer to me or do i have this correct? I want a tranny that can hold up to 5OO hp. I like to hot rod more then pull trailers but i only pull trailers once in a while maybe 6000#s. Is one tranny better then the other? Is there a big cost diff between the 2? What should I DO???

You are going to get people that say DTT, and people that say ATS. From my understanding they are both good trannys. If it was me, I would call ATS and DTT and go from there.

Oh, no. You're gonna make the slushbox crowd drag out the skirts and heels again. : Why don't we have a stick vs. auto tranny war instead? I'll start it - REAL trucks have three pedals! ;D

My personal vote goes to DTT. I have used DTT since I started bombing and have yet to have a transmission problem. I have friends running ATS and they are happy with their setup. I would call both companies and go from there. Try and test drive a truck equipped with the vendors transmissions and you decide. Both companies should have installers close to your area.

Just my $.02 worth

I can tell you that Doug is not nice to his trans. When I rode in his truck, he did a full throttle brake stand to launch it. You can see from his dyno numbers that the trans is a stout unit.

This was me at launch ;D I haven't been planted that deep in a seat since my Chevy got rear ended by a garbage truck.

My personal vote goes to DTT too.

I think that you should also base your decision on a visit to the local installers of both brands. Let them give you an estimate on costs and duration of the swap, and let them tell you what they will do for the dough. At least at DTT there are lots of options and configurations availlable.
(I don't know about ATS...)

Lets keep cool on this guys. No fighting we are all freinds here. I guess i want to know where you guys got your tranny from? Do i have to go to canada for a DTT tranny? Like i said in the first thread I live in Minnesota so im looking for something thats not across the world. I guess i will just have to call both vendors when i get a chance.

I got my DTT setup from one of their builders in Dallas, TX. I could not be any happier with it. There should be someone in your area (500 miles) that can do it, and believe me it's worth it.

I also got my DTT in TX, when you call their 800 number they can tell you the location nearest to you.
