Question To trade or not to trade?

Hey ya'll I'm thinking about trading my first gen in on an '01 24V 5 speed 4x4quad cab long bed. The truck is all power, bone stock and in pretty good shape. It has good paint, zero rust, a few dings here & there, and 193,000 miles. It runs great and holds excellent oil pressure. He has it priced at $10,900. Give me some ballpark figures on how much you think I should give him plus my truck... By the way its the truck in my signature...it's rust free but needs paint & some front end work, and has 187,000 miles on it. I love it but I need a quad cab . Any input or suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Having worked at a dealership, don't trade it. You won't get anywhere near it's value. You would have better luck selling it locally, here on this site or keeping it.

He should give you the '01 and $4500 for your 1st Gen.......I think that's fair.

agree with above. If your truck is soild and clean it should almost be an even trade. Unless they offer you more than 5k or 6k I would sell it yourself.

I wouldn't touch a '98.5 - '02 truck with a 10 foot pole. That VP44 pump is a time bomb - you WILL be buying at least one in the time you own the truck.

If it was an '03 or a 12 valve I'd tell you to go for it, but do some reading on the VP44 before you sign on the dotted line.

Those dings are from people poking at it with eleven-foot poles; why, I don't know, put people do un-explainable things from time to time.

Knowing you since i was in kindergarten, and considering you a close friend. keep ol red. do not get rid of that thing. read your signature, then understand you are wanting to get rid of that for a STOCK truck. STOCK! i never knew that word was in your vocabulary. Crap like that is why gay marriage is LEGAL now in the USA!!!
