too hot

ok im realy new to this i just bought a 1990 ram le 250 pick up, single cad worn out auto trans, 35 in toyos, k&n intake, 93 head, 3,000 gov spring, 60 pound springs, just put new injectors in her, has gauges tac, pyro, boost, trans, 330k on her and going. the pump has been twecked, dont know how much? it runs at 900 degs, at 70 mph at 10 psi, if i mash it im at 1200 degs at 50 mph i know thats not right, a guy told me i had two injectors bad so i bought new, and put them in and its worse, it not hardly driveable, i hit a little hill and she heats and i have to back off of her, to a crawl, any ideas?

Is your egt probe before or after the turbo? this makes a substantial difference in answering your question.

10lbs. boost cruising at 70 is a little high. Sounds like the tranny is struggling to turn those toyos.

Try backing off the fuel screw a tad and bump the timing as well. Ace is right though the boost is high, mine barely registers at highway speed. The simple fact is you have more avalible fuel than you do air, either raise the air (turbo) or drop the fuel.

Where is your pyro probe ? before or after the turbo.

Ace read his truck spec's. 90 model auto no OD. That means 3:07 gears with tall tires. Around 70 MPH the engine is running very close to 2200 RPM or so. So the boost numbers would be about right for that speed.

Turn the fuel screw back out some. That will lower the EGT at the throttle setting your using for 70 MPH.

A 4" exhaust will drop EGT's around 100 degrees at WOT.

Up grading to an intercooler would help a lot.

These new injectors may be the key issue here.

If I read this right, someone's diagnosis was "two bad injectors", so you replaced ALL of the injectors with a new set, right ??

What brand and type injectors did you install ??

If you got ahold of some kind of race-horse injectors, then that is the problem.

The reason I say that is you state that after the injector replacement, the situation got a lot worse.

I suspect that these new injectors are dumping in a bunch of fuel that the rest of the engine is not equipped to handle.

Yes the turbos adding hot air, and lots of it. Until you get an intercooler and a turbo it will run warm.
Just turn power screw out a bit until your egt's are more agreeable, you can turn it back in when you have an intercooler and a better turbo. Try 1/2 a round at a time, when temp drops to where you can live with it stop. Also the 1/8 inch timing bump helps with egts a little.
At 70 in mine im only 700 and i dont have O/D,

I believe a timing bump must hide or fool the egt's. Does anybody else think this? I feel if the fuel fires earlier, then the piston is in the heat / fire longer. More heat must get to the pistons with advanced timing.
