Timing case gasket replacement -- have questions
I suspect my timing case gasket is leaking. This weekend I am going to clean the engine so I can check for sure. Anyway I was looking at some pictures on the web and have some questions.
Do you have to remove the fule pump gear to remove the case? I saw this web site:http://www.cumminsdatabase.com/read.php?id=111 It looks like the gear is still on the pump. It woudl seem to me that there would be a seal between the case and teh pump shaft or does the gasket seal it? I don't want to time the pump unless I have to.
ANyone ever do this? Any estimes on duration of the job?

The gasket is between the cover and the case, so you don't have to pull any gears just to replace that gasket. However, if the case is cracked due to the Killer Dowel Pin coming out, then you will have to pull the camshaft gear (or both the camshaft/gear as an assembly) to replace the case. It could be the cover gasket, the crank seal, the oil filler neck, or a cracked gearcase causing the oil leak.
The first step is to pull enough parts off the front of the engine to clean things up and get a look at what is going on (pull the fan & clutch assembly, vibration damper, etc). I found it to be much easier to pull the radiator to provide more working room, plus it's a great chance to clean the radiator inside and out with a hose.

There is a gasket between the case and the block. That is the gasket I am talking about.
I know that my crank seal is leaking but I also see oil coming down from behind the case.
In case my timing case is cracked does anyone know the part # for the case and price? Is there an aftermarket case?
