Question Time to Mod

Like the title says I want to start modding my truck. Just not sure which direction to go? I’m looking to be around 450-500 hp when done modding.

First I was wanting to get a programmer either a smarty or edge juice with attitude. With the smarty I would need to get gauges also. Which one is better?

Second a tranny upgrade. I’ll definitely need suggestions on this one.

Third injectors. Ya not sure which way to go on this one either.

Then whatever else is needed???

Also if I straight pipe my truck what does that do with the egt's?

Thanks in advance!

Smarty is about a 65hp programmer, Juice is 120hp. So if you plan on going with the smarty alone, you will need bigger injectors to make up for it. I'd atleast get you tranny upgrades started now if your tranny is still relatively healthy. Something like the Juice/Quad/TST/ect. will put a hurt on a stock tranny, so fix it now so its cheaper in the long run.

My recipe for you would be a wire tap box (pick your poison), Mach 4 injectors, 62mm turbo, and then the neccesary support like a fuel system, head studs if you like, or o-rings, yada yada.

I agree with tate. Start with the tranny now to save time and money in the future. I love my DTT but even just a TC and valve body will do a good job. The Edge j/a gives you the gauges you'll need plus with the higher hp then smarty its a more fun way to go. Not to mention the on the fly options that you dont get with smarty. Also wheather you do smarty and injectors or the j/a, a fuel system is a good idea to keep from burning up your lift pump then worse, injection pump. Straight pipe will drop your egt's, 5 inch will be lower temp, but from what ive been told, the amount of back pressure you loose going from 4 to 5 looses a little hp too. but hardly any really.

Id say.. Chip/programmer, AFE stage ll intake 4" exhaust, Tranny upgrades, DDP or Edge injectors or nozzles, Then turbo. or vise versa turbo then injectors if ya go with the j/a or a big Quadzilla.
