Spare tire situation...
Not quite sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes...

I bought my truck used, the previous owner added 16.5 wheels with 33x12.50x16.5 tires. The factory spare which I believe is a 265/75/R16 (?) still hangs under the bed... so I have no spare.

At the tire shop this morning, I asked about a 33" tire for a 16" wheel. I was told that the closest I could get was a 285/75/R16, which has an actual diameter of 32.85", I was also told that my 33" have an true diameter of 32.50", making a difference of +0.35".

Is this difference enough to worry about? Should I go this route, or should I bite the bullet, buy another 16.5" wheel and get a 33" tire to match the rest?

Thanks for the help.

Russ

Re:Spare tire situation...
Usr the one ya got as long as it's just to get ya home.
It won't hurt any thing temporary.
It's not real good on a posi unit.
If you have to go a long ways [ over 100 mi. ] I would put it on the front and not use 4 wheel drive if you have posi. trac.
If no posi. you can run it on the back.
To me it's not worth the cost of a new wheel.
If you are worried go with the 285, it's close enough to run awhile.
Still the posi. concerns are there if going a long ways.

: Eddie : 8)
