I am not sure about this, but I think FE's are just jerky. I think people go with weaker OFE instead of FE to trade some holding power for drivability.

So the FE clutches grab harder when they get hot?

It's very grabby and always will be. I had one in my 2001 and HATED IT because of that. I eventually swapped it out for the OFE and was much happier. The hotter you get the clutch, the grabbier it will be.

The guys who run major power or pull sleds or whatever love 'em... but unless you're making tons of power you probably don't need it.

ditto, its grabby, just the nature of the beast.

You may try a hard 2nd or even 3rd gear launch and see if that helps, but try not to break anything.

Mine seems to have gotten a little better, only slightly though. It's still pretty grabby in second and reverse. I've gotten a lot better at slipping it enough to get rid of the grabbiness before full engagement. If you hate it, too bad. That's how it's supposed to be, I mean it's designed to hold quite a bit of horsepower and torque. My dyno numbers in my sig are on the FE. Until it slips, i'll keep adding power.

I had an FE on my 97 for about 90,000 miles it stayed grabby the whole time but I got used to it the only time I had any real trouble was backing heavy trailers you'll get used to it DONT down grade unless you just love wrestling the tranny in and out its just the nature of the beast. I talked to Peter the other day he said the DD3800 is a little more street friendly he would probably take your FE in on a trade if you see you cant get along with it.Just my 02

I've got 50K miles on mine....hold like it did day one....and as grabby as day one too. Lord knows how much hell its been through, but its durable as can be.
